IRIS Emissions Services Limited was formed by Alison Sampson and Glen Rodden, following the closure of the Parker Procal Peterborough facility in June 2017. The company was formed and was then appointed by Parker to continue the after sales support of the extensive installed base of Procal products.

The business ownership was transformed in 2026 to combin experise with the team at Astech System Servicew to take IRIS into the future.

The company retains key experience and skills of the Procal products providing technical support to marine emissions industry worldwide, the aim to grow the business reach into new area.

Objectives

The team have built up strong relationships in the industry, with an honest and dedicated approach to handling customer’s needs worldwide. Support offered ranges from long term service contracts, experienced remote technical support and flexible onsite services in marine EGCS.

The service provision has grown through dedicated contracts and extended fast response marine EGCS support both in the field and remotely.
The future now sees IRIS forming strategic alliances to utilise the skill set and experience of the IRIS team to enhance and extend the service provision offered.

Steven Curtis
Steven CurtisDirector
Steve Curtis is an experienced IT professional and administration support manager, with a strong background in customer service, operations management, and web development. With over 20 years of experience spanning retail, environmental services, and technology support, he brings a client-focused, solution-driven approach to every venture.
His career began with qualifications in IT and website development, followed by a role at a leading retail company where he quickly progressed into customer service management. He then joined the Source Testing Association, working across IT systems, web development, and supporting both the administrative and management teams.
Steve later co-founded a specialist emissions services company alongside Andy Curtis, where he led customer support, sales operations, and the scheduling of the service department. Following the sale of the business, Steve built and grew a retail company using his combined skills in IT, e-commerce, and customer service.
Once established, Steve expanded into offering IT and website support to a broader client base. He has since played an integral role in the founding and growth of ASTECH System Service, overseeing service contracts and accounts, and supporting clients through sales, customer relations, and operational planning.
Alison Sampson

Alison has 30+ years of experience in the CEMS industry, working with Procal products on the technical team during this time. Alison was Technical Services Manager and managed the service team resources as well as supporting customers and distributors in technical sales and support.

As a long served member of the Source Testing Association Alison has been actively involved in the wider industry and is the current Chair of the organisation.

Now co-owner and Director of IRIS Emissions Services Limited Alison is responsible for the day to day operation and management of the business and provision of technical support, hoping to extend the reach of services whilst retaining the good relationships, dedication and integrity of the previous 30 years.

At home Alison likes to be creative and to enjoy the outdoors. She is often busy sewing for fund raising projects to support her chosen charities.

Andy Curtis
Andy CurtisDirector
Andy Curtis began his career in 1996 as a service and maintenance apprentice at Clean Air Engineering. During his apprenticeship, he gained qualifications in electronics, electrical systems, computing, and welding. He was trained to service and calibrate emission monitoring analysers, laying a strong technical foundation for his future career.
Upon completing his apprenticeship, Andy joined an aircraft maintenance company, where he further developed his skills in aircraft engineering. He was later asked by his former manager to join Westech Instrument Services, where he worked his way up in the company from service technician to led the service and production department. His responsibilities included managing service operations, contributing to training programmes, and participating in stack emission testing and service work worldwide.
Following this, Andy was asked to join a service and equipment supply company that was a world leader in ambient and emissions monitoring. In this role, he worked on the UK’s ambient air monitoring networks, servicing and maintaining a wide range of equipment, from particulate monitors to gas analysers for SO₂, NO₂, O₂, CO, and CO₂.
Building on this extensive experience, Andy went on to establish his own company, which quickly became a leading supplier of emission monitoring and flue gas analysis equipment. The company provided training, equipment sales, and service support across the UK, the Middle East, and Europe.
After selling the business, Andy took on the role of Technical Administrator at the Source Testing Association. In this position, he liaised with members, provided technical support, hosted technical meetings, and played an active role in training and international standardisation work (ISO and CEN). He also hosted technical seminars and remained active in the service and equipment field through his own company, ASTECH System Service, supporting clients in the marine industry, including work with IRIS ESL as well as working closely with leading emission monitoring supply companies, Apex Instruments inc and JCT Analysentechnik GmbH
Glen Rodden
Glen RoddenDirector
Glen has over 25 years of experience in the marine industry. He served for 24 years in the Royal Navy as a submariner, specializing in analytical techniques. He rapidly became a very capable support engineer in the CEMS marine and Land industry when joining Procal as a Customer Support Engineer. A role he filled for 2 years before forming IRIS ESL with Alison.

Glen is now Co-owner and Director of IRIS Emissions Services Limited and is responsible for field work and technical support to customers with a particular interest and specialism on the world wide marine applications, using any down time on board vessels to learn more about the wider application of EGCS.

During days off Glen can be found providing all sorts of support for his local social club where he has held positions of responsibility over the years and is current secretary.

Contract Engineers

Our contract support engineers are a valuable input to the business expanding the resources available.

Our key people are trained and experienced engineers contracted in as the need arises. All have a solid history in electronics, fault finding and CEMS maintenance.
